Seeking a graphic design subcontactor

  Overview

The Greater Hunts Point Economic Development Corporation (GHPEDC) supports the Hunts Point and the Southeast Bronx small business community through advocacy, technical assistance, and training. In partnership with the NYC Department of Small Business Services under the Avenue NYC program, GHPEDC is implementing a series of commercial revitalization projects in the neighborhoods of Hunts Point and Longwood that address structural challenges, develop and leverage the sense of place, and provide services to merchants. 

GHEPDC is currently seeking an innovative, creative, and professional graphic design and marketing subcontractor to build a district marketing plan for the Hunts Point and Longwood commercial districts to showcase its unique characteristics and encourage residents to shop locally. This is a contracted position and the individual selected will be paid a flat fee for the services provided. The contract period will be from late March 2020 to June 2020.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Lead conceptual design meetings with GHPEDC, local stakeholders, residents, and merchants and incorporate feedback in outputs as appropriate 

· Determine voice and messaging identity for the neighborhoods of Hunts Point & Longwood

· Advise on best practices throughout the design process

· Select colors, font, images, and layout and develop product illustrations, logos, website graphics, and other public-facing materials that reflect the district’s brand identity

Outputs

· Create a brand identity for the Hunts Point & Longwood neighborhoods, including logo and graphics, typology, and color palette

· Write a district marketing plan outlining the brand voice, social media strategy, feasible reach, and more

· Build a website and pages on social media for promoting the Hunts Point & Longwood business community

· Develop a series of draft social media posts promoting the district, including features on small business owners

Requirements and Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, design, or art preferred (extensive professional experience can substitute this qualification)

· Exceptional creativity and innovation with accuracy and attention to detail

· Experience with both print and electronic media

· Experience with social media marketing

· Time management and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to meet deadlines

· Excellent public speaking skills and experience leading community engagement activities

· Knowledge of current commercial design trends and ability to implement them in daily work

· Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, or similar design and photo-editing software

· Proficiency in website design platforms like Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, etc.
